SG Auction is so very proud to be presenting a jaw dropping collection of 3 incredible examples of muscle car Royalty: A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Hemi, a real 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and a 1969.5 Plymouth Road Runner A-12!
Known as the River Road Collection, our consignor has been amassing a collection of very rare cars over the past 2 decades. All of the RRC cars are kept in indoor climate controlled storage with a private, full service shop on site to keep every car in top mechanical condition. Our consignor loves to drive his cars and is also a racer. Recently he decided to refocus his interest to late model factory drag cars. With that, he has entrusted SG Auction to offer cars from his collection, which are, in his opinion “too nice to drive!” There may be as many as 9 cars crossing the block from this amazing collection at the May 3-4 auction in Spring Grove so stay tuned and keep checking back!
Offering number 1 is a documented, numbers matching 1969.5 Plymouth Road Runner A-12! This legendary car is 1 of 209 RM23M9s produced. A true M-Code, A-12 car it is, again, fully documented and the only 1 of the 209 possessing its unique combination of factory option codes…1 of 1! The odometer is showing 20,703 miles, which are believed original to the car. The M-code option is a 440 engine. The A-12 code option consists of 3 Holley 2 barrel carburetors perched on top of a factory aluminum Edelbrock intake with a special camshaft and valve train plus the Super Track Pak which includes a 4:10 Sure Grip differential, black steel wheels with chrome lug nuts and a fiberglass lift off hood. This rare bird is still wearing all of its original sheet metal and was completely restored by Muscle Car Restorations in Chippewa Falls WI to exacting factory specifications, using original factory documentation. The car was repainted with the correct R4, Performance Red paint color. On the car, all of the factory option parts are original to the car. This car still holds the honor of being the only U.S. street legal production car built with a lift off hood and all documentation goes with the sale. Here is an amazing opportunity to own a 1 of 1 ultra rare Mopar!
Offering number 2 is a heavily documented, numbers matching 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Yes, it is a real Z/28 as proven by the original dealer documents, which include: Original Dealer Order form, the original Dealer Invoice, Protect-O Plate and Warranty Booklet. The original owner set the car up for drag racing and did rebuild the engine accordingly. Then engine was rebuilt again in 2000s to freshen it up from years of sitting. Both engine rebuilds are well documented. The odometer is showing only 12,939 miles, which are believed actual. This Z/28 code engine package consists of the original 302, 290 factory rated horsepower engine block, the original Muncie M21 transmission and the original 12 Bolt positraction rear end with 4:10 gears. It is well documented the drivetrain is original to this car and the numbers match. If that is not enough, this car also has a complete owner history. All the sheet metal is original to the car. The car has a repaint in the correct and very rare, P-P code: Sea Frost Green, color it left the factory wearing back in the late 60s. That said, this Z/28 still qualifies as “unrestored” because the paint is the only thing to be redone on this car, the rest has not been touched and is original to the car. The interior is also original to the car and has not been changed, replaced, altered or restored since new. If you are a fan of original, low mile cars…or even if your just a fan of cars…this piece of muscle car history is a must see!
Offering number 3 is the real deal, original and unrestored showing only 48,049 documented miles on the odometer. This is 1 of only 234 Hemi, 4 speed Road Runner Hardtops built in 1969. According to the original broadcast sheet, this car came with a 426 cubic inch Hemi…check…paired with a 4 speed manual transmission…check…moving the factory rated 425 horsepower to the rear wheels through a Sure Grip limited slip rear end with 3:54 gears…and check! Count it…the drivetrain is not only original to this car, it is also numbers matching! Two other highlights of this car, it came from the factory with power steering and power brakes. The car is wearing original sheet metal and the factory F8 code, Ivy green paint is original with the exception of the hood. Look closely in the photos and you will see the body and paint are without a doubt factory original. The interior is also original to the car and showing in very good condition. Aside from a small tear in the front driver side seat, it is hard to find anything out of place. An auxiliary oil pressure gage has been added in the interior to keep an eye on extremely valuable Hemi power plant under the hood. Details like the hoses and clamps in the engine compartment have been replaced with high quality modern reproductions that maintain the original look with out compromising reliability. The Carter 4 barrel carbs have been rebuilt and there has an electronic ignition upgrade in the distributor, further enhancing reliability. The rest is authentic and original. Lastly, the steel wheels are new reproductions of the originals and the Red Line tires are also new. As with the Z/28 Camaro above… if you are a fan of original, low mile cars… or even if your just a fan of cars…this piece of muscle car history is a must see!
