95% completed in restoration
Hupmobile started production in 1909 with the Model 20. It had a factory rated 20 horsepower, 4 cylinder, water-cooled engine with a 2 speed sliding gear transmission. It was light, nimble, sporty, fast for the day, and is a strong contender for being be considered among the very first sports cars. Built on an 86 inch wheelbase, it was available only with a roadster/runabout body. Production reached 5,340 in 1910. At a price of $750, it came in $150 less than the comparable Model T Ford. The last year for the Model 20 was 1913. Hupmobile produced a wide variety of models until 1941 when production finally ceased.
This particular car was undergoing a complete restoration, but due to health reasons, work stalled. All mechanicals are complete and there are extra components included, as well as manuals and technical information. Upholstery and paint is showing in very nice. There is a magneto currently fitted on the car, but another completely rebuilt, charged and correct
magneto is included with the sale. Final fit, detailing and run in, will be needed to finish the car. That said, it will not take long for this machine to be road ready. This is a very sporting striking little car, a true head turner!
